Nordkalk Terra products have been developed especially for soil stabilisation. Lime-based stabilisation products can help achieve a strong and durable foundation cost-effectively with all soil types, even in demanding conditions.
The products are suitable for stabilising both wet and soft clay soil, and they make construction on challenging soil possible. Compared with alternative methods, lime-based stabilisation products are an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution. The products can be used for both column and mass stabilisation.
Stabilisation is a method of reinforcing foundations in road, railway and municipal engineering construction, and in vibration control and transition structures. Deep stabilisation prevents depressions in the soil and improves the soil’s load-bearing capacity. For column stabilisation, Nordkalk Terra lime-based binder is added to the soil, which hardens to form a column that is typically 500 to 800 mm in diameter. The depth of the column varies according to the site, with the average depth being 10 to 15 metres. In mass stabilisation, Nordkalk Terra lime-based binder is mixed into the clay or peat surface soil using equipment integrated in the excavator. In mass stabilisation, the soil can be processed to a depth of roughly 5 metres, and with the latest equipment even to a depth of 8 metres. Soil can also be dried using lime, allowing machinery to move around on the construction site.
