Christmas gifts turned into donations

Tiina Roine (info a, 10 December 2018

Also this year, Nordkalk has made donations to organisations that promote children’s wellbeing.

In Finland, the donation is directed to Save the Children. It is a national organisation working for children’s rights in order to immediately and permanently improve children’s lives in Finland and all over the world. Child welfare work like family support activity is contributed to by the assets donated to the Christmas collection. Read more of the organisation.

Also in Sweden, a donation is given to a voluntary organisation with no political or religious affiliations, BRIS (Children’s Rights in Society), to which children can turn for advice and support. This year BRIS shall support vulnerable children and young people in particular, and provide opportunities for children and young people to conduct a dialogue with adults. The Christmas collection is ensuring that trained duty persons are reachable by children also during Christmas. Read more of the organisation.

Tartu University Hospital Children's Foundation is receiving Nordkalk’s donation in Estonia. The charity organisation has been helping severely disabled children by covering medical costs regarding their disabilities since 2000. In addition, the foundation supports purchasing the necessary equipment for Tartu University Hospital’s Children’s Clinic and other children’s departments, arranging foreign lecturers into Estonia and foreign training for nurses and doctors.

In Poland, Nordkalk joins the charity action Noble Box organised just before Christmas holidays. The aim of the action is to provide direct aid to families in need, in a way that it is effective and meaningful. Every year two families are chosen from the vicinity of Nordkalk’s two biggest production plants: Miedzianka and Sławno. They are among the 20 000 Polish families who are assisted by Noble Box actions. Nordkalk as a company provides the necessary means of subsistence and the personnel collect and deliver beautifully wrapped gifts to the families.

The uniqueness of the Noble Box action is that it responds directly to the actual needs of the chosen families and connects volunteering people who feel that they do something important for others. Read more.

For the first time this year,  Nordkalk donated money for the medical treatment and rehabilitation of Nordkalk’s 6-year-old neighbour boy Maksymilian Sygut, who lives in the village of Rykoszyn close to Nordkalk's Miedzianka plant in Poland. Maksymilian was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus and must be under constant medical control. The help goes through Fundacja Dzieciom „Zdążyć z pomocą”
