February on Canary Island and in Qatar
My training season continued in February in familiar surroundings and shooting range on the Canary Islands. The two-week-camp followed the same routines as before: running early in the morning, then to the range by 10 am. The number of pigeons shot was huge again and the shooting felt good. It still isn’t perfect, but then again, the season has only just started. I had most favourable weather during my stay, but only a few days after I had left the island, it started snowing there!
For me, snow turned into sand as I headed towards Qatar shortly after coming home from the Canary Islands. And sand there was. And it was warm. It was in Qatar, that I also started the competition season with a GB game. I had high expectations because the training on the Canary Islands had been successful and I had reason to expect good results. But the opposite happened. Accuracy of shots was nowhere near what it should have been and the result was way lower than expected with a placement 15. However, I will not get too gloomy over it – a little disappointed for sure, but then it’s onwards and upwards again! The training continues, so that I will be in best possible shape in Rio.
The weather in Finland is perfect right now for skiing and other outdoors winter activities giving wonderful opportunities to get into better physical shape. In March, the travelling will continue.
