The Swedish Land and Environment Court of Appeal approves Nordkalk's application to suspend the permit process for the Bunge quarry until the Supreme Administrative Court has decided on the judicial review of the Swedish government's decision to designate the Bunge Quarry on Gotland as a new Natura 2000 area. The Swedish Land and Environment Court of Appeal announced its decision on 2 March 2016.
Ten years ago Nordkalk applied for a permit to open a new limestone quarry in Bunge on northern Gotland. The Swedish government, however, decided on 31 August 2015 to designate new Natura 2000 areas on Gotland, including Bunge. Therefore Nordkalk applied on 5 November 2015 for a judicial review of the government's decision by the Supreme Administrative Court.
