Nordkalk receives climate investment support in Sweden
Nordkalk (infonordkalk.com
Nordkalk has been granted climate investment support by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. The support is given in context of the climate step (klimatklivet), an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Nordkalk is one of twelve companies receiving support for "measures that demonstrate the greatest sustained reduction of greenhouse gas emissions per crown invested".
In 2015, Nordkalk tested use of biofuel at the facility in Ignaberga. The fuel is a surplus product from ecological feed production. The tests have given good results for both the environment and Nordkalk. Therefore an investment will be made to adjust the production and equipment for the switch from fossil fuels to biofuels.
About a third of Nordkalk's energy is based on coal which is used in lime burning. Nordkalk is evaluating several options to increase use of recycled fuels, such as recycled oil and waste-based energy solutions, and use of biofuels, which reduces fossil carbon dioxide emissions. Heating with biofuel is one such successful example. For further questions please contact Eva Feldt, 010-4762664.
