Crushing

The extracted stone is transported for
rough crushing.

Screening

After crushing the stone is sorted into different fractions by screening, after which it goes to be processed further.

End product

Limestone

End product

Limestone powder

Grinding

In the grinding process the limestone is ground to a fine powder.

Lime kiln

The limestone (CaCO3) is burnt in a rotary or shaft kiln where it breaks down into calcium oxide, i.e. quicklime (CaO), and carbon dioxide (CO2).

Crushing

The quicklime is crushed into different fractions.

End product

Quicklime

Screening

After crushing the quicklime is sorted into different fractions by screening.

Grinding

In the grinding process the quicklime is ground to a fine powder.

Hydration

Slaked lime is made by adding water to quicklime. The calcium oxide reacts with the water to produce calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2), slaked lime.
