Plastic manufacturers and compounders are facing challenges due to the raising costs of the raw materials and continuously tightening technical requirements from the end users. Wollastonite is ideal filler for plastic compounding in several ways. The physical properties, such as acicular shape of the particles and availability of very fine particle size and surface treated grades, offers unique technical properties for thermoplastic compounds, thermosets and elastomers such as:

When choosing filler, the compounder has to make the decision what filler to use based on the ratio between cost and performance. Wollastonite provides a great ratio between these two.

Nordkalk Norwoll and Wicroll grades are specifically designed to meet the requirements of the plastic compounding industry. Both Norwoll and Wicroll grades are available with alternative surface treatments to optimize their performance with different polymers.  
                
Norwoll and Wicroll wollastonite can be used, for example, as a reinforcing filler in the following applications:
