Limestone-based solutions for industry, agriculture and environmental care

Land and Environment Court of Appeal has today announced its decision on Nordkalk's planned limestone quarry in Bunge on Northern Gotland in Sweden. The decision means that Nordkalk has now received conditions and permit effective immediately and can start the construction of the new limestone quarry in Bunge Ducker.
- It is extremely pleasant that the Land and Environment Court of Appeal has finally given us the permit and conditions effective immediately so that we can get started with the work. It has been a long process, which finally seems to have come to an end. This is good news to us, our employees, customers and suppliers, says Anders Mattson, Managing Director of Nordkalk AB.
The court procedures took place in May 2012, but the process started already much earlier. Nordkalk filed the application already in 2006 and in 2009 the Environment Court of Appeal gave its consent to quarry activities. The permit process has included a strict environmental assessment of the future quarry.
-The conditions now established are strict, especially the limit values for discharge water, but we have an extensive control program and we will see to it that we will live up to the rules and conditions given to our activities. It is possible to combine the protection of environmental and nature values with limestone quarrying, says Håkan Pihl, Project Manager for Bunge.
- We will immediately on Monday go through the conditions in order to finalize the control program and begin the work on building the new limestone quarry, says Håkan Pihl.
