Stable growth

Nordkalk has expanded substantially in recent years, both by acquisitions and by organic growth. In 2009, however, the net sales decreased due to the global economic downturn. 

Nordkalk has invested in the paper pigment production, which is an important part of the company´s activities. A new kiln in Verdal, Norway, which Nordkalk co-owns with Franzefoss Minerals, serves customers mainly in the paper industry.

Geographically the investments have been directed towards Eastern Europe. In Poland Nordkalk purchased the limestone company Miedzianka in year 2000. The lime factory Alekseevka in Russia was acquired in October 2005. In Ukraine a subsidiary was established in 2008.

The investments made in the last few years have given Nordkalk increased opportunities to strengthen its position as one of the leading operators on the European limestone market.
