Railway Transports

Nordkalk uses railway transports within its operations in Sweden and Poland. Nordkalk's logistics department arranges railway transport from the factory to the client if the client so wishes.

As to the access to the wagons; Nordkalk can lease a number of wagons to clients or other interested parties. All wagons go through inspections, pressure tests and they are serviced at authorized workshops.

In Sweden, Nordkalk has over 80 own railway wagons out of which 33 are in use. The rest of the wagons are out of operation, some being used as storages. The wagons are discharged pneumatically and can be used for products up to 15 mm grain size. We have two types of wagons: double axel wagons that hold 26 m³ and 4 axle wagons that hold 52 m³. Today Nordkalk transports different limestone-based products to clients in several destinations.

In Poland, Miedzianka, Nordkalk has 3 railway sidings. The tonnage transported yearly with rail is about 2,5 -3 mln. We have transportation with open wagons (coal wagons - Eaos), Fals and ACS.

Nordkalk cooperates strongly with reliable rail transportation suppliers and operates own railway siding in order to support customers with logistic solutions.
